Mummys!

You just never know these days what you might find lurking in our primary schools. Today for example there were several Mummys spotted in the Recreation Hall in our school. Any information about the whereabouts of these mummys should be reported to the Gardai in Crossmolina.....

Holes!

After reading the enthralling novel entitled 'Holes' , fifth class got down to making treasure maps inspired by events in the story. This was the end result:

Art for Sr. Bernadette.

Mr. McKenzie's room is full of artistic talent, and last week the children used their talents to make farewell banners and decorations for Sr. Bernadettes's concert. Below you can see pictures of us hard at work.

Fifth Class Visit Ballycroy National Park

Wednesday 21st April saw fifth class travel to Ballycroy to visit the National Park Centre. Children explored the exhibition area and listened to the guides talk about why this area is so special. Special attention was paid to the flora and fauna that is to be found there. The children then followed the guides who took them on a short walk around the centre, where they looked for specimens of the plants and insects they learned about inside. They used 'pooters' to capture and examine some specimens of the insect life. Finally they searched for living creatures in the pond water that was taken from a nearby pool. The ecosystem that exists here in the bogland is unique. The plants and animals have adapted to make this environment their home. We apologise to any insects or pond weed disturbed by our school field trip!!
